Connecting Generations through Understanding

Generations connect when every voice — young and old — has a place in the conversation. We’re all shaped by our lived experiences, each one different from those of our mothers and fathers. Together, we shape our country through those experiences, carrying a shared responsibility to leave it better for the generations that follow. That is progress.

These are the voices of those generations — We are currently gathering contributors. If you would like to be an anonymous Generation Blogger just email letterstothednc@gmail.com. Letting us know what generation you fit into. Questions like…

  • How would you describe the political climate in the U.S. today compared to when you were younger?

  • How would you describe the economic opportunities available to your generation when you were starting out?

  • How have American values (like freedom, equality, or community) changed in your lifetime?

American Values

The question this week “How have American values (like freedom, equality, or community) changed in your lifetime?”

As our nation moves from generation to generation, each is shaped by the environment in which they grow — and in turn, they shape the world they inherit. Our values evolve over time; what was once seen as right or wrong at the founding of this nation has changed as we’ve grown. So what do today’s generations believe? What values guide the America we are building now?
