American Values

How have American values (like freedom, equality, or community) changed in your lifetime?

In my lifetime, American values have become more centered on equality, diversity, and authenticity. Growing up with social media and constant access to information, my generation is very aware of social issues and expects freedom to mean being accepted for who you are. We care deeply about fairness, mental health, and the planet, and we’re not afraid to challenge old systems or traditions that feel outdated. Community looks different now—it’s often built online through shared causes and identities rather than geography. Overall, we value individuality and inclusivity, but we’re also searching for genuine connection in a fast-changing world.
